 Reach Japan
This year we will be in Japan during Golden Week, one of their busiest holidays behind only Obon and the New Year celebrations. This is a time when the locals do not have to work and most of their time is spent with family and friends. It is common that a family will spend the afternoon in the park or the square, affording time for friendly conversation and casual interaction with visitors. This year, we will take advantage of this great opportunity by ministering the gospel to those on the street. Perhaps those who only expected a vacation will find a new life in Christ and return home a new creation.
Last year during Dr. Oliveira’s trip he began laying the groundwork for what we will build on this year. He begin work on translation of our bylaws a requirement for the eligibility in order to establish a church.
Highlights of that trip included leading an entire family to accept Jesus. This is a big obstacle to overcome as tradition along with government regulations make it very difficult to serve the Christian faith in that country. From that came the opportunity for a mother to reconcile with her sons. They had been estranged for over 20 years because she had refused to forgive them, but after dedicating her heart to God and being forgiven herself, she accepted her sons back with open arms. He also had the opportunity to meet with victims of the tsunami, as well as establish many other relationships that are sure to develop into a fruitful work for God. These works are the foundation of what we will build on this year.

The second phase of building is about to begin and you’re invited!
Last year we spend two fun fill weeks deep in the Amazon Jungle constructing a home for Luis and Nadia, two of Casa do Oleiro’s full-time missionaries helping in Porto Velho. Last year the area experienced heavy rainfall and several of the village huts were flooded. We helped by providing medical attention and food to the people who were in this disastrous state.
This place is not like any other, a place still hidden in time and steeped in tradition. As a result the kids here must travel four hours via the Madeira River just to attend school! This year we will begin construction on a school building and hire a school teacher to afford all the children the opportunity to get and education. This is a labor intensive project as all building materials must be transported by boat down the Madeira River so we need all hands on deck! If you’re a hard working thrill seeker, this is the trip for you!

 Reach Russia
If ever a mission trip was close to the heart of God this is the trip. We’ll begin the first phase of a three year project to reach those who, for over 78 years under a government system with little regard for justice, have been taught that God does not exist. Last year Dr. Oliveira visited a transition house in Donetsk, Russia as a model for what we will construct in Strovapol. This is our first official Prison ministry mission and it’s sure to be a challenge. This is not the trip for the faint of heart, but on the contrary if you have the heart of a warrior, pray about attending this one!

Can you imagine arriving to school and having to jump over mud puddles to get to your desk? You could if you lived in Kenya. But with your help these kids won’t have that problem much longer. Last year we constructed a new school building where 400 children attend. These kids range in age from four to eighteen and include a curriculum for handicapped and mentally disabled children as well. This year our agenda is open to the Holy Spirit’s leading so the details are not determined as yet. But as always, medical outreaches, visits to nursing homes, local shelters, rehabilitation centers, and street ministry, are often part of our visits.

This year we will be in Campo Grande to build the fourth church under the Casa do Oleiro banner. We will begin from the ground up so your experience and prayers are very much needed. To date we have not determined the extent of the trip as we are leaving details up to the ever changing needs and to the Holy Spirit. We are certain however, if you have a heart to join us that you will be richly blessed! Many opportunities are available for those who are willing to venture out to the streets, the orphanages, the drug re-habilitation centers, and anywhere else the Lord may lead us.
